Chase the words.
Sep.16th - Oct.7th 12:00 - 19:00
(Close Sunday, Monday and National holidays.)
Opening Party - Sep.15th from 6 to 9 p.m.
Live Painting - from 7 p.m.
You may think they're visible but they're not. You're always just a stitch away?from words.
They come closer to you at times, and draw away at others. They appear to be understandable when in actual fact they are not.
They may encourage you or hurt you.
The impalpable relationship they create is somehow similar to that between a man and a woman.
This show presents you with some works that make it possible to "view words."
View?not read, write, speak or hear.
In fact, it may afford you your very first experience of viewing words.
ーーIn the opening event, a live painting demonstration using video cameras will be given.
Please see how words are visualized. Don’t miss it !

Hachinohe "HATCH" Kotaro was born in Sapporo, the capital cityof the northern island of Japan. At the age of six, he had a fatefulencounter with the world of Japanese calligraphy. He was drawn to the simple lines that conveyed powerful messages. When he became nineteen he moved to Kyoto, the capital of traditional Japanese art, and studied Art History at the Kyoto University of Art and Design where he received the Master of Arts in 2004. Although he studied the traditional style and method of calligraphy, the artist has been experimenting with his calligraphy in many forms and has developed a distinctive personal style. He focuses on the lines and points of a kanji character and reemphasizes them in an artistic expression, he has cultivated a calligraphic art form that transcends the boundaries of time and language. He's original words are not only to be appreciated visually, but are also perceived with other senses. He currently shows works in Europe, US and Japan.
